Looking for shoe rack organization ideas that go beyond a pile by the door? Tall cabinets, little cubbies and wall-mounted rails give you plenty to work with.
There are even a few ways to turn your favorite shoes into part of the room.
You can keep things simple with a two-tier rack or go all out with a whole wall of shelves. Start with the space you have, then pick a setup that suits the shoes you actually wear.
Shoe storage ideas worth saving
slatted cabinet doors
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous brown cabinet. I love the tall slatted doors and the rows of shoes tucked inside.
A lamp and framed landscape sit on top, so the shoe storage feels like part of the room. Try a similar arrangement if your entryway opens straight into your living space.
a tower of little cubbies
Have lots of shoes you’d rather keep separate? This white organizer has rows of small compartments beneath a larger open section.
It’s shown being moved into place, so the cubbies are still empty.

Check the compartment dimensions against your shoes before choosing this style, especially for taller pairs.
clear boxes for each pair
How cute is this little stack? Sneakers, flats and heels each have their own clear box, with everything visible from the back.
Try grouping your shoes by style like this. I especially love the pale blue flats beside the blush pair.
white crates around coat hooks
I am obsessed with this entryway setup. White crate-style shelves run up the sides and across the top, leaving the middle open for coats.
The little bench and string of round lights make it even cuter. For your own version, keep the shoes you reach for most on the lower shelves.
curved cabinet shelves
Want something a little different from straight shelves? This tall white cabinet has a rounded center with divided compartments.
The image labels it as a rotating shoe cabinet.
If you’re considering a similar design, check how it turns and how much clearance it needs before planning the surrounding storage.
slim wall rails
This is such a neat way to line up everyday shoes. The sneakers sit upright behind brown front rails rather than flat on a deep shelf.
I love how the two lower rows fit beside the open cabinet. You could use a similar arrangement on an empty stretch of entryway wall.

heels inside the cabinet door
The heel collection gets its own display here! Rows of gold-colored bars line the inside of the open cabinet door, with strappy shoes hanging from them.

The green and blue pairs are my favorite little pops of color. If you try this idea, leave enough room for the shoes when the door closes.
a white over-door rack
Don’t want to add another cabinet? No problem! This white rack hangs over the door and holds shoes across several rows.

There’s a mix of flats and heels here, including a bright red pair. Keep your most-used shoes around the middle if you want them within easy reach.
a tall pallet-style tower
If you are looking for lots of sneaker storage, then this one is for you. The tall pallet-style tower has closely spaced shelves filled with pairs.
I love the colorful sneakers mixed among the white and gray ones. For a similarly tall setup, plan proper anchoring rather than copying the height alone.
cubbies around a long bench
This mudroom may just be one of my favorites here. Shoe cubbies wrap around the coat spaces, with more storage tucked beneath the long bench.
The gray finish and black hooks look so pretty together. You could give each person a lower section to keep everyday pairs from getting mixed up.
a simple two-tier rack
Don’t want to go all out and want something super simple? This little two-tier rack is a lovely starting point.
It has open slatted shelves and raised ends.
Try keeping only your current everyday shoes here rather than squeezing your whole collection onto it.
a pebble-filled shoe tray
Not every shoe spot needs shelves. This long brown tray is filled with white pebbles, with sneakers and ankle boots sitting at one end.
I love how neatly it follows the wall. If you’re borrowing the idea for wet shoes, choose a tray intended to contain water underneath the pebbles.
a narrow full-height cabinet
If you have a narrow gap beside your entryway storage, take a look at this. The gray cabinet stretches nearly to the ceiling, with shoes arranged behind one tall pale door.

Keep the pairs you wear most around the middle. The upper shelves could be your spot for less frequently worn shoes.
shelves sorted by shoe style
There is so much shoe storage here! Heels fill the upper shelves, sneakers sit farther down and tall boots stand along the floor.
This is a great arrangement to borrow if your collection includes lots of different heights. Leave a taller opening at the bottom rather than folding your boots into a small cubby.
a hallway bench with cubbies
I love this long shoe bench with its gray seat cushion. The two rows of cubbies keep pairs lined up underneath, while the round mirror sits above.
You don’t have to fill the wall with storage to follow this look. A low bench and a few coat hooks make a pretty combination on their own.
a rolling under-bed tray
Running out of wall space? This wide tray on wheels is pulled out beside the bed, with shoes lined up in rows.
The low sides leave the pairs easy to see. Measure the clearance beneath your bed first, including the height of the wheels and your tallest shoes.
a lit sneaker display
Calling all sneaker fans, this bedroom wall is such a fun way to show off your collection. White shelves display the shoes side-on, with lighting beneath several rows.
I especially love the colorful pairs against the pale wall. Keep a little space between them if you want that same display-style look.
tray shelves and dark pipes
This is another simple rack, but it looks quite different from the little slatted one above. Three brown tray-style shelves sit between dark pipe-shaped supports.
The shelves are empty here, so you can picture your own arrangement. I’d put everyday sneakers in the middle and shorter pairs on the bottom.
separate rails for boots and sneakers
I love how these wall racks turn the shoes upright. Brown boots fill the top row, colorful sneakers sit in the middle and a mix of pairs hangs below.
The small stool beside them is a nice extra touch. Try separating your own rows by shoe type if you like knowing exactly where each pair belongs.
matching white shelf towers
Last but definitely not least, we have these tall white shelving units. The rows of black, brown and pale shoes look so tidy side by side.
Storage boxes sit across the top for a little extra organization. You could use those for shoe-care supplies while keeping the open shelves for your pairs.
