Looking for white painted kitchen cabinets with a little personality? Black handles, glass-front doors and colorful backsplashes give you plenty to work with.
I especially love the kitchens that mix simple white doors with a few pretty things on open shelves.
You can keep things simple or go all out with statement lighting. These pictures include bright white, creamier shades and a gray comparison, plus a before photo worth keeping separate from the finished-room inspiration.
White cabinet looks worth saving
cream doors and gold-tone handles
We’re starting off strong with these pretty cream-colored cabinets and dark brown counters. I love the little display cupboards along the top.
The blue and green vessels are such a nice detail.
Try gold-tone cup pulls on the drawers and longer handles on the doors to follow this look.
black handles and open shelves
How cute is this sink area? The black window frame, curved faucet and cabinet handles look so good together against all that white.
If you want to go a step further, try brown floating shelves on either side of your window. Keep a few white pots on them like the ones here.
tiny herringbone details
Don't want a colorful backsplash but still want a little pattern? This white herringbone design is for you.
The small zigzags look so pretty beneath the paneled cabinets.
The black sink and faucet are my favorite part. I'd keep the counter decorations just as simple.
flat doors and gray veining
If you’re looking for cabinets without lots of detail, go with flat white fronts like these. The upper doors have no visible handles while the lower cabinets have slim silver-tone pulls.
That gray-veined backsplash gives you plenty to look at without adding another color.
distressed doors and display jars
I am obsessed with this little sink setup. The chipped-looking white finish, divided glass doors and exposed ceiling beams give it such a different look from the cleaner-lined kitchens above.
The row of jars over the window is adorable. Try a single shelf in that spot if you want a similar display.
navy island and lantern lights
Who says every cabinet has to be white? This dark navy island looks gorgeous with the white cupboards behind it.
I especially love the decorative posts at the island corners.
Bring in gold-tone handles and lantern-shaped pendants if you want to follow the same combination.
tall doors and a little glow
This is a lovely way to keep a long wall of cabinets simple. The tall white doors have black handles with layered trim running along the ceiling.

I love the lights underneath the cupboards. They draw your eye to the white backsplash and the little bowl of fruit rather than more decorations.
open shelves full of white dishes
If you love displaying your dishes, this one is for you. Rows of white bowls, plates and pitchers fill the brown shelves above the white lower cabinets.

The black cup pulls and pendant are such cute finishing touches. You could add a black plate to your shelves too, like the one at the top left.
glass doors and patterned bowls
I love these glass-front cabinets with all the neatly stacked dishes inside. The tiny gold-tone knobs are so pretty without taking over the doors.
Don't forget the counter below if you're borrowing this look. A couple of patterned bowls beside plain white dishes would be a lovely addition.
black hood and matching pendants
Want something a little bolder than black handles? Take a look at this large black hood.
The matching pendant lights and dark grout lines carry that color through the rest of the kitchen.
The white cabinet fronts stay simple here. I'd leave them that way rather than adding more decorative details.
a ledge for plates and art
This hood display may just be one of my favorite details here. Two decorative plates and a small framed botanical picture sit on the broad brown ledge.

The creamy cabinets and gold-tone cup pulls are lovely together. If you want a similar display near your cooking area, check the required heat clearances before adding anything.
antiqued edges and ornate trim
If you are looking for a more decorative cabinet style, then this one is for you. There’s dark streaking across the pale doors, layered crown trim and curled details beneath the hood.
I love how the same distressed look carries onto the island. Save this one if a perfectly even white finish isn't your thing.
arched panels in a before photo
This picture is marked as a before, so it isn't a finished makeover to copy. It shows pale cabinets with arched upper panels, small gold-tone handles and a tall cupboard beside the range.
If your own kitchen has similar doors, you could use this as a starting point for planning a white paint refresh. There's no after photo here to show the result.
deep green behind white doors
I am obsessed with this green backsplash. The glossy rectangular tiles look gorgeous beside the white cabinets and gold-tone handles.

You don't have to choose colorful cabinets to bring in a bold shade. Try keeping your doors white and letting a green wall like this do the talking.
copper-colored shine
How pretty are those round pendant lights? Their copper-colored finish matches the hood and repeats in the faucet and cabinet hardware.
The white island has gray veining running down its side too. If you want to borrow just one detail, I'd start with the shiny lighting.
grooved panels and cup pulls
These cabinets have a little something extra without needing a bright color. I love the narrow vertical grooves inside the white door frames.
Try silver-tone cup pulls on your drawers with straight handles below. The combination shown here is simple enough to let those grooved panels stand out.
a gray cabinet comparison
These cabinets read as light gray rather than white, so keep this picture as a color comparison. The white appliances make the difference especially easy to see.
Still love the layout? You could borrow the small open shelves beside the range for a white-cabinet kitchen.
The bowls and little plants are such cute additions.
little plant shelves and pale doors
There is so much to love in this kitchen, but those little plant shelves beside the hood are my favorite. The pale cabinets have silver-tone knobs and cup pulls with a darker island across from them.

The small copper-colored pans above the window are another pretty detail. Try a few matching accents rather than filling every empty spot.
simple doors and gold-tone brackets
Don't want to go overboard with the decorations? No problem!
These off-white cabinets, pale counters and two brown shelves give you a lovely starting point.
I especially love the gold-tone shelf brackets with the cabinet handles. A few white dishes and a trailing plant are enough for the shelves.
white drawers and a window light
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty white kitchen with brown counters and black cup pulls. I love the single light above the wide window!
The glass-front corner cabinet and striped towel are lovely little details too. Try a patterned runner if you want to bring a bit more decoration down to floor level.
