Looking for closet storage ideas for bedding that leave room for those bulky blankets too? Clear bags, little shelf dividers and labeled baskets give you plenty to work with.
You don’t have to hide everything away to make your shelves look lovely.
You can keep things simple with folded stacks or give each sheet set its own container. These ideas include full bedding closets plus a few bedroom storage options for when your shelves are already full.
Bedding storage ideas worth saving
matching baskets and folded stacks
We’re starting off strong with this pretty basket-filled closet. I love the floral backing peeking out behind the white stacks.
The bulky bedding has its own spot right at the top.
Try matching labeled baskets for your smaller bedding pieces, then leave a shelf open for items you reach for often.
clear shelf dividers
If you are looking for something simple to add to your shelves, this one is for you. Clear dividers separate the green and pale gray towels above the folded sheets.
Give patterned sheets their own section like the ones on the left. No extra baskets needed!
see-through zippered bags
Don’t want to open every bag to find your favorite blanket? These clear bags let you see the different colors and patterns inside.
The black handles and zippered edges keep the whole collection looking coordinated.
You could give each bedding set its own bag. Measure your shelf depth before choosing a size.
baskets in an arched nook
How pretty is this little nook? The brown and cream baskets look so lovely beneath that arched opening.
I especially love the wide basket in the middle.
This is open bedroom shelving rather than a closed closet. Borrow the basket arrangement for spare sheets if you have a similar alcove.
bagged comforters by size
This is one of my favorite ways to separate a big bedding collection. The clear bags sit in stacks with shelf labels for king, queen and twin comforters.
Try the same size-by-shelf arrangement if you’re storing bedding for several rooms. Blankets and extra pillows can have their own sections below.
curved shelf separators
I love these curved dividers with the colorful folded stacks. The shelves hold clothing and handbags here, but the same layout could work for folded sheets.
Keep each set between a pair of dividers rather than making one long pile across the shelf.
a separate bedding cabinet
Don’t have a linen closet? No problem! A tall cabinet like this gives pillows and folded bedding a place of their own.
The smaller folds sit near the top while the larger pillows fill the lower shelves. I love the little checked pieces mixed in with the cream and white.
wide pull-out trays
These pull-out trays may just be my favorite detail here. White towels sit above neat rows of gray and beige linens, with larger folded blankets below.
If you’re planning a closet update, consider trays that bring the back of the shelf toward you. The light along the top is a nice extra touch.
gingham storage bags
How cute are these gingham bags? Not gonna lie, the pale blue one is my favorite!
Both sit beneath hanging clothes, with the dark bag’s handle facing out.
Try a pair for spare sheets on a low closet shelf. You can have a little pattern without leaving all your bedding on display.
bins mixed with open stacks
You don’t have to choose between containers and open storage. This closet has both, with gray handled bins beside white pillows and folded blankets.
I’d use the bins for smaller sheet sets and keep bulky pieces visible. The narrow bin between the two larger ones is worth copying if you have an awkward gap.
patterned bedding bundles
I am obsessed with the blue patterns in these little stacks. The bright turquoise bundle is so pretty beside the pale checks and geometric print.
For a similar arrangement, tuck each folded sheet set inside one of its matching pillowcases. Then stack the bundles with the patterns facing forward.
pull-out wire baskets
Here’s another pull-out idea, but this time with open wire baskets. Folded pieces sit side by side in the wide bottom basket rather than in one tall stack.
Try this arrangement for folded blankets if your closet has room for a drawer system. Check the basket dimensions against your largest folded piece first.
colorful bedding shelves
Calling all color lovers, this one is for you! Orange, turquoise, pink and blue bedding fill the shelves in separate stacks.
Group similar colors together if you want to follow this look. I especially love the pink and purple section near the bottom.
open shelves for bulky bedding
If you have lots of spare pillows, take a look at this setup. Wide open shelves hold them in low stacks with baskets and bags tucked beside the bedding.

The mixed containers across the top are so pretty. You don’t need every basket to match to borrow this idea.
storage cubes with front windows
These little windowed cubes are such a cute option. You can see the folded bedding through the fronts, including that orange piece in the beige cube.
They’re shown beside and on a bench here. For a closet version, choose cubes that fit your shelves with the windows facing out.
bedding beside hanging clothes
This is a lovely way to give bedding its own section in a shared closet. The tall shelving unit sits right beside hanging clothes and drawers.

Keep smaller folded pieces higher up and give thick blankets the taller openings. I love the cream, gray and beige stacks with the patterned baskets below.
sheet cases labeled by size
If you’re tired of sorting through different sheet sizes, save this one. The cream cases have visible king, queen and twin labels plus little windows at the front.
Use large, simple labels like these so you don’t have to guess. The bigger zippered bags below give bulkier bedding a separate spot.

extra storage under the bed
Closet already full? These shallow under-bed cases offer another place for your bedding. I love the brown handles against the pale sides.
This is an alternative to closet shelving, not an extra shelf idea. Check your under-bed clearance before trying similar cases.
hanging throws and corner shelves
There is so much to love in this walk-in storage space. Pillows line the upper shelves while folded linens, wire baskets and boxes fill the sections below.
The throws draped over hangers are my favorite part. Try that for a few smaller throws if you’d rather hang them than add another stack.
a cubby for each stack
Last but definitely not least, we have this lovely cubby setup. I love how the striped bedding gets its own little sections beside the plain white stacks.
The shelves also hold shoes and small accessories, so this isn’t bedding-only storage. Give each category a separate cubby if you’re sharing the space, then use the large lower baskets for loose extras.
